Cycling-Day 36-Roppingi

Day 36, 275 days for cycling, total distance 19,368.0km, total climb 220,157m
Roppingi 12:27-12:52
Distance today 2.7km, climb 66m, duration 1:8, avg speed 6.3km/h, burned 108kcal
Gear: DoCoMo Bikke
165 days since injury, 134 days since surgery

Sharing ride again.

This port has many bikes.
Designated area to hire and return places bikes unbalanced.

I think the bikes should be more spread if the system allows us to hire and return at anywhere, like China.

Stopping by a bakery to buy my lunch.

Good for riding and hopping for business.

Only 25 minutes to Daimon.

Riding subway requires one transfer, and over 200 yen. Bicycle is much more convenient.

Walking-Day 11-Meguroku(11.3km)

Walking in a rainy day.

Day 11
Meguroku 12:53-15:33
Distance today 11.3km, climb 154m, duration 1:59, avg speed 5.7km/h, burned 566kcal
162 days since injury, 131 days since surgery

I wanted go riding in the morning but it was almost raining.

I got out for lunch in the afternoon.

Walking for 5.6km to a pizza restaurant, what I wanted to come.

Good to be seated without queuing.

Pizza is delicious as good as the reputation.

And keep walking to a bakery. It started raining.

I just wanted to buy some bread for the breakfast tomorrow, but a trophy of "Gold Award of curry bread" caught my eyes. I could not leave without buying the curry bread either.

The bread was well filled with curry and taste was good.

Keep walking to a patisserie.

It was pity not to bring fragile cakes. I bought a piece of baked one.

Good walking tour in such a rainy day.

Cycling-Day 35-Minatoku(3.5km)

Sharing bicycle in Tokyo.

Day 35, 274 days for cycling, total distance 19,366.1km, total climb 220,105m
Minatoku 15:26-15:50
Distance today 3.5km, climb 80m, duration 0:23, avg speed 8.7km/h, burned 114kcal
Gear: DoCoMo Bikke
161 days since injury, 130 days since surgery

I used a shared bicycle for stopping by a bakery on the way home.
The bakery is located a little far from subway stations, or I have to transfer two buses. It is not far for a bicycle to go riding.
The forecast calls rainy weekend, and it is worth to go riding today.

This is a shared service provided by DoComo, a mobile phone company in Japan.
I often use this for hopping my clients.
The bicycle sharing is very popular in Mainland China, but it is also getting useful in Japan as well.
There are many cycling ports in Tokyo, and just touch your IC card and go (prior registration is required).
There are some user classes but I am the lowest one with no monthly charge and just pay 150 yen for the first 30 minutes riding.
150 yen is a little lower than one ride ticket of subway, closer approach to my clients, and good exercise.

The destination, Tokai University Takanawa campus.

A little hard to find the cycle port, where I have to return the bicycle.
You should check where the port is, otherwise you will lose the first 30 minutes and have to pay the extra charge.

Bought breads nearby a fire station with this old fashioned fire engine.

The service is good, but still limited in downtown area in Tokyo. Wishing to expand to 23 wards.

Cycling-Day 34-Shirasawa Pass

I was almost departing in the morning,

but it seemed raining and the road was wet.
Usually I gotta go when the weather got better but the forecast called the bad weather. I slept again.

Day 34, 273 days for cycling, total distance 19,378.3km, total climb 220,476m
Shirasawa Pass 14:24-15:31

Even in the afternoon it was not raining.
I got a short ride to Shirosawa pass before it really rains.

39 minutes to the pass.

Good for the same pace before the surgery.

Careful descent on the wet slope.

Chairlifts were removed in Minekata Ski resort.

The color leaves were getting colored.

Good to be able to ride today.

Cycling-Day 33-Tama River(Hamura Dam)

I feel a little tired with the riding yesterday and wondered to go out, but
the weather was too good to miss, and the forecast calls the bad weather next weekend.

Day 33, 272 days for cycling, total distance 19,440.2km, total climb 219,584m
Tama River(Hamura Dam) 9:30-15:16

Gear: GIANT DEFY COMPOSITE SE
143 days since injury, 112 days since surgery

Marukobashi bridge for the boundary of my adventure, as always.

2 hours 8 minutes to Hamura Dam.

The duration was not bad despite of the "jam" of Tamagawa cycling road in the national holiday.

The burger lunch as usual.

The menu is not for Halloween.

Coffee time on the way back.

Good riding in such a nice weather.

Stopping by the bakery as usual.

Arriving at Samukawa Shrine in 2 hours 12 minutes.

Good to be here in the same pace as the past.
Samukawa shrine is getting busy for Shichigosan(7-5-3) celebration.

Crossing Sagami river.

Nice riding along the beach.

Enoshima was busy.

Arrived in 1 hour from Samukawa.

Lunch at the favorite cafe at 11:45.

This burger is available from 11 am. Good timing.
I am now happy to eat this burger again after the surgery.

Going home.

Nice riverside running makes me go all the way.

Cycling-Day 30-Otari-Hotaru

Nice bluebird day.

Day 30, 269 days for cycling, total distance 19,171.5km, total climb 220,213m
Otari-Hotaru 9:59-14:52
Distance today 55.2km, climb 1,456m, duration 3:1, avg speed 18.2km/h, burned 1,147kcal
Gear: Specialized Rockhopper Pro
135 days since injury, 104 days since surgery

Today I could not get up early either, and had to give up a long riding.
Hotaru, a soba restaurant, is the alternative destination today for my breakfast and lunch.

Arrived in 1 hour, just before the opening time, but already queuing with several guests.
It's been for several years since last time to eat here, as it was always full I tried.

Good to be able to eat.

I use this bridge every time, and I found this is a historical architecture with its unusual shape.

This bridge was built during the World War II, and it was made of concrete instead of steel, as steel was short due to the war.

There was a mushroom festival at Santeinn Otari.

Local mushrooms are all sold out but there was a service of mushroom miso soup.

I was just on the way back, but found a signboard to Chobo-no-sato, or the observatory village. I knew the signboard but I have never been there.
It is just 6km away, and seemed good for exercise after the meal.

But the way was not just an easy exercise. The trail was really far in the wood, and I had to do a hill climbing in 45 minutes with 410m elevation.

And the observatory place is up there.

The doctor has not allowed me to climb a hill, but perhaps I can walk on the pavement.

The view is not new to me, but good as I can see Hakuba Cortina Ski Resort.

Hieda #2 and #3, and the roof of the chairlift #4.

I am really sad I probably cannot go there in this season.

Descending was a little scary, as the road was sandy, without guard rails.

The ride was meant just to eat lunch, but eventually hard.

Cafe time. The Tarte tatin season has come.
