Ski day 45 at Happo One

Happo again.

I tried to catch the lift at Riesen but the parking lot was full.
I had to drive to Sakka to park, and then 10 minutes later than the lift opening time.
I could came to the top of Riesen at 8:00 a.m. though.

Beautiful clouds.

I was running at Riesen for an hour,

and moved to Panorama after the lift got crowded.

But Panorama got crowded too.

I came back to the car to change skies.

Happo One 9:45-12:40

Mogul skies for a session with my highschool mate and his colleagues.

We enjoyed mogul skiing.

Good to have bumps in Usagi.

Two runs at Kurobishi in the end.

I finished at the lunch time.

The parking lot at Sakka got muddy.

And this mud is mixed with bull shxt for grazing in summer and autumn.

Unusually I spent whole morning time for skiing. The total distance was 28km.

Ski day 44 at Happo One

Season Day 44,  Powder 29 days, Backcountry 11 days, Telemark 1 days
Happo One 11:34-15:00
Gear:Vector glide Camel Hump+Tecnica Cochise 130

We had planned a backcountry skiing but I gave up in the poor visibility.
My powder mates went there, and found many dints, and they got DNS.

I went to Happo, where my highschool mate came.

They like bumps, and I joined to them with mogul skies.

But I found the bumps at Usagi have disappeared.

Alpen quad was crowded.

I took them to Kita-One bumps instead, but

icy and hard.

Many dints in Skyline area.

We came back to Usagi,

and bumps were grown enough to ski for several runs.

Ski day 43 at Hakuba Cortina

I did not expect a powder day to be honest.

Season Day 43,  Powder 29 days, Backcountry 11 days, Telemark 1 days
Hakuba Cortina 8:30-10:45
Gear:BanYa M1102+Dynafit Beast
Official Snow fall 15cm, Kanayamazawa 12H 26cm

The forecast called not much snow fall today. I just expected runs on Riesen in the morning, but the snow meters were rising in the night.
I woke up at 5 a.m. and checked again, but it was tough after working until 2:30 a.m.
I slept again and woke up for Cortina. Hakuba did not have much snow fall.

I got the first chair at the quad in Cortina.

And the second chair at the lift #4.
The official called 15cm new snow, and there were not so many junkies.

The good position brought me to Hieda#3.

The beginning was icy, but the lower part was powdery without hitting the ice.

I got the first track.

I aimed the deeper part and the track was shifted to the side.

There was not queuing at the lift #4 afterward.

I stayed in the resort as the back bowl looked shallow.

I really enjoyed with less competition until 10:30, and then the snow got heavy.

Surprising powder day.

Ski day 42 at Charmant Hiuchi

A bluebird powder day!

Season Day 42,  Powder 28 days, Backcountry 11 days, Telemark 1 days
Charmant Hiuchi 9:00-11:18
Gear:BanYa M1102+Dynafit Beast
Official Snow fall 50cm, 12H 28cm

We did not expect enough snow fall in Hakuba, and bet on Charmant.

The snow scale was convincing in the morning.
Leaving before dawn.

Today younger members joined us.

The tracks looked remaining, but the official calls 50cm new snow.

The lift operation was delayed for 30 minutes due to the patrol check.

Patrols in Cortina and Charmant understand the conditions, and they are really reliable, while patrols in Hxppx area in Hakuba are not.

Untracked slopes up there.

Awesome powder.

Really enjoyed.

The sun got the snow heavier.

We believed the snow would have gone quickly in at most 3 runs,

but we could make 8 runs.
Younger members also enjoyed the powder, and they definitely will join next time.

Ski day 41 at Happo One

I left my car in Hakuba for a week, but I am very disappointed with the few snow on the roof.

I would expected to shovel the car from the snow.

Season Day 41,  Powder 27 days, Backcountry 11 days, Telemark 1 days
Happo One 7:50-9:40
Gear:HEAD i.Supershape Magnum+Tecnica Cochise 130

Today my powder mates went to the mountain, but I expected the low return to the high risk.

Going  to Happo with younger friends.

It was foggy up there.

The slopes were icy after the rain yesterday.
It was hard enough for high speed skiing, but the ice balls were awful.

I finished to see this long queue.

Late breakfast

I got a work to do after skiing.
Some people say I am very evil for skiing in weekdays, but I have to work in weekends as well instead.

Ski day 40 at Charmant Hiuchi

Came to Charmant again.

The queue was as long as yesterday.

Season Day 40,  Powder 27 days, Backcountry 11 days, Telemark 1 days
Charmant Hiuchi 8:30-9:40
Gear:BanYa M1102+Dynafit Beast
Official Snow fall 30cm, HiuchiOne 12H 11cm

Today we joined to the queue early, avoiding the mistake yesterday. Our position was 5th or 6th.

We skied carefully for the first run with poor visibility, but it was nice riding.

We enjoyed 5 runs.

It almost has done before 10 a.m.

Nice powder day.

Ski day 39 at Charmant Hiuchi

Woke up early and departing to Charmant Hiuchi at 6 am.

We took the third position, but

The queue became longer while we were in the building.

The queue already proceeded and we were left behind.

We enjoyed four runs, though.

Good powder skiing.

Then other two runs with Drew-san. Good for him to enjoy.

Ski day 38 at Hakuba Cortina

An evil powder riding in a weekday.

Season Day 38,  Powder 25 days, Backcountry 11 days, Telemark 1 days
Hakuba Cortina 8:40-11:50
Gear:BanYa M1102+Dynafit Beast
Official Snow fall 30cm, Kanayamazawa 12H 21cm

Good snow depth in Hakuba village.

Cortina was confirming the condition. I went to Happo, as a surer place.
I parked my car at Kokusai and started walking to the gondola station, but I found the gondola was not operational yet.
I walked back to Kokusai lift and checked the website of Cortina, and found they open the chairlift #4.

Now Cortina is surer than Happo suspending upper area with the strong wind.
I jumped into the car again and drove to Cortina.

Cars were stuck on the way to Cortina due to the deep snow.

The quad lift was already running,

and I got the very end of the queue.

It took 20 minutes to ride on the chair, but I could somehow a good untracked line.
The run was great, but...

Oops!
My GoPro dropped from my helmet.
I stopped and tried to find, but I couldn't.

I cannot give up the powder runs.

Backside.

I thought the powder would have gone quickly, but the chairlift #4 became empty.

I really enjoyed until noon.

It was a shame to lose GoPro, but this is the day, one of the best in the season.
