Easy trekking with tram riding.

Day 10
Mt. Kisokomagatake 10:55-16:25
Distance today 7.5km, climb 802m, duration 5:15, avg speed 1.4km/h, burned 924kcal

CAUTION! The duration in this article is due to my experiences and physical strength, and much shorter than the standard course time. Please plan by yourself considering your own experiences and physical strength when you plan to walk the course.

I had a long business meeting Thursday night, and I rushed to the bullet train after the work.
My late dinner on the train.

Leaving Hakuba at 7:15 a.m.
Cloudy with thick clouds.

Today we walk on the trails of Japan Central Alps.
This is the first time to go to Japan Central Alps for me, but I have been interested in the mountains there, as I used to see the mountains when I was paddling a long time ago.

Arriving at Suganodai bus terminal at 9:30 a.m.

The bus took us to the tram station.

It was not too crowded on Friday, but there were a little more passengers than I expected.

The tram comes.

The tram took us to Senjojiki.

It is easy to come here, at 2600m above the sea.
This is the first time for me to come to Senjojiki.

A short climbing to the ridge.

It took only 20 minutes.

The first destination is Mt. Sannosawa-dake.

There are very few trekkers.

The approach is easy but

the final approach has a rock climbing. The chains are installed.

Arriving at the peak.

The view has Mt. Hoken, Mt. Kisokomagatake, etc.
The air is cool, and we spent for a while.

We went back to the ridge and went to Mt. Hoken.

The fog brought the cool air.

Mt. Hoken stands with its magnificent shape.

Hoken means the treasury sward.
It looks the tip of the sward indeed.

The ridge of Mt. Hoken requires some climbing techniques with chains.

Up and down.

The final approach to the peak.

This is the peak.
There is a little shrine.

The left rock is the real peak.
I have almost conquered my acrophobia, but I could not stand on the rock.

Walking down to the Hoken rodge.

The lodge told us it was very busy with several parties.

A trekker told us there was a bear nearby the lodge.
We have to be cautious.

Looking back to Mt. Hoken.

It was like an athletic field and fun.

Arriving at Chojo lodge.

We stay here tonight.
We hardly use a lodge in the trekking season but today is Friday.
We were assigned to a room with 6 guests, but eventually other guests did not join to our room.

After checking in, we climbed up to Mt. Kisokomagatake.

It is just the backside of the lodge.

Arriving at the peak at 4 p.m.

Returned to the lodge to take supper at 5 p.m.

We did not exercised much today, and the meal portion was good enough.

After the supper we went back to the peak to see the sunset.

Abentrot of Mt. Hoken.

Mt. Sannnosawa-dake is also shining.

The shrine is also shining.

The sun is going down through the Shrine gate.

and going down to the cloud sea.

Wonderful sunset.

The half moon above the mountains.

Thanks for the good day.

Coming back to the lodge.
