Walking-Day 1-Jiyugaoka(12.4km)

I attempted to go riding on bike but the weather did not become better.

Day 1
Jiyugaoka 14:05-16:50
Distance today 12.4km, climb 22m, duration 2:45, avg speed 6.0km/h, burned 671kcal

Then I started walking in order to prepare for raining.

I walked to a famous patisserie for a TV program.

35 minutes, 3.6km.
I attempted to eat a piece of cake here, but there was a long cue.

Then I walked 2km further to another patisserie.

but all cakes are sold out.

Then I walked 3km further to a brasserie and could have a piece of sandwich.

I kept walking to another brasserie to buy a piece of bread.

Eventually I walked for 12km, despite of my original plan to walk to the first patisserie to eat cake.

Walking for 12km is nothing without carrying a heavy backpack, and without climbing.

Cycling-Day 23-Tokyo short trip(26.4km)

I got a short ride after the work.

Cycling-Day 22-Karuizawa(190.9km)

A regular ride from Karuizawa to Tokyo.

Day 22, 176 days for cycling, total distance 13,139.2km, total climb 176,724m
Karuizawa 5:24-18:24
Distance today 190.9km, climb 830m, duration 13:0, avg speed 23.1km/h, burned 3,639kcal
Gear: Eurasia 520

Today there is no chance to rain, and it is good for a long ride.

Leaving at 5:24.

Arriving at Tokyo station in 45 minutes.

Dismantling my bicycle and riding onto the bullet train.

The reserved seat was full due to the summer season but I could take a non reserved seat.

It is cool but much humid after the rain.

I visited my ancestors grave.
After visiting I just go home.

There was a favorite cafe but it is closed. Now I have no fun at Karuizawa.

Meganebashi bridge.

I keep running and arrived at Tomioka in 1 hour half.

Tomioka Silk Mill, a World Heritage site.

It was not so busy when I arrived, but it became busy after I took breakfast.

Kamameshi, or steamed rice in bowl at Oginoya, a famous one in Usui pass.

It is a little strange to have this bowl here, as this bowl is famous at Usui pass, I ran through an 1 hour ago.

I keep running in a good pace,

and arrived in Yorii in 2 hours.

I go along R140 and go into a bank road at 13:13. This road should reach to Tokyo all the way.

However the road was cut or bypassed where rivers merged.

The merit for a cycling road is to keep running all the way without stopping, but the demerit is that there is no convenience store where we can eat or drink.

There was a center house with vending machines and chairs at Yoshimi Athletic Part.

I feel better to see the tall buildings of Saitama New Urban Center.

Arakawa cycling road makes me exhausted as the no-changing scenery does not tell me where I am.

At 16:25 I reached to Todabashi bridge after running 50km. Now I turn to R17.
There is the bridge of the bullet train beyond Todabashi bridge, where I passed 9 hours ago.

I stopped by a bakery on the way home.

Running toward to Toyotama along Kannana street, and turning to Ikebukuro.

I found an interesting place. It is a very unusual combination of Tokyo Skytree Tower and Yamanote line.

Keep running to the downtown of Tokyo.

Looks like the rain coming soon.

I came to Shimbashi for late lunch, but

The place was closed.

I tried another place but it was also closed.

The way home looks clear. Now there is no worry for the shower.

Then I keep running further.

Going down to the South and reached to Haneda airport.

On the last day of the summary holiday season, the terminal must be very busy.

Then I ran along Tama river.

I enjoyed the nice breeze. The sky looks like the Autumn one.

I tried a brasserie to buy bread, but this place was also closed.

Today I was very unlucky for visiting the food places.

The air is cooler than  I expected.

Breakfast at a cafe I found recently.

Good morning ride.

Cycling-Day 18-Tokyo short trip(42.1km)

A short ride in Tokyo.

Heading to the North along KanNana street.
Today it was cooler in Tokyo.

Extremely hot and spicy ramen for the ride in summer.

Hard  combination of hot chili pepper and Sichuan pepper.

Gear: Eurasia 520
Today's route

Today I wanted to leave earlier, but I felt exhausted.

At last I left at 10:35.

Today it was cooler than the recent hot days.

I arrived at Enoshima in 2 hours 15 minutes.

And went further to the harbor.

After it I tried a new restaurant I found, but it was full.
I haven't ate anything since the morning.

Running along Sakaigawa river.

Stopping by IIda firm for fresh milk iced cream, but

it was also full.
I am hated by restaurants.

At last I could eat at a convenient store at 3pm, that was my breakfast.

I kept running along Sakaigawa river to Machida city.

Turning to Tama Newtown and crossing Yotsuyabashi bridge to Tama river.

Going home along Tama river.

I had to run against the wind.
For almost 1 hour I ran in full speed, and completely exhausted.

Distance today 36.6km, climb 473m, duration 3:7, avg speed 18.5km/h, burned 1,082kcal
Gear: Eurasia 520
Today's route

I climbed up to Mt. Karamatsu yesterday, but it was really hot in Hakuba village.
I came back to Tokyo.

In the morning I tried to buy bread for breakfast, but the one in my neighborhood was closed.
The other one I tried was not opened yet.

I went for a short ride again in the afternoon.

It is insane to ride in such hot weather.

Running up to the North along Kannana street.

The road has many shades. It is good to ride.

I ate very spicy Szechuan Dandan noodles.
I ordered very spicy one, but I could have eaten one level more spicy.

The spicy noodle got me sweat, but no worries for riding on bike.
The hot chili powder encourages me.
I planned to return here, but I decided to go further on Kannana street.

Turning to Mejiro street and coming back along Yamate street.

There is no shade along Yamate street.

On the way back I finally bought some bread in a different brasserie.

Good short ride in 3 hours.
