Ski day 3 at Tateyama

Fully enjoyed powder runs in a short time.

3rd day for this ski season, 3 days for powder, 3 days for backcountry, telemark for 0 days
Tateyama 10:40-14:10
Gear: Teneighty GUN+SCARPA FREEDOM

We wanted skiing in Hakuba in this weekend but the ski resorts did not open.
Then we decided to go to Tateyama again. All huts are full, and we go for a day trip.

Leaving Hakuba at 5:30 for Hakuba.

Tateyama station.

We arrived at 8 am, but there was already a long cue for ticketing.
The cable car we could get was at 9am.
We have to accept this situation, which should be much better than Ougisawa, while we could park our car.

Arrived at 10:20 at Murodo.

It was pretty crowded with people from Tateyama and Ougisawa as well. It is much different from the last week.

Good weather, but it is warm today.

We are afraid of the snow condition. It should be melt soon.

We went straight to the mountain without stopping by.

Just under the glacier.

Now here we go.

The terrain was a little hard, but it was excellent enough.

Keep going.

We arrived in Tateyama late, but we could get the run while the other skiers were dropping stuff for staying.

I hit a hidden obstacle in the valley,

while We did not hit last week.

Went down to the bottom and climbed up again.

We came up to the same dropping point.

We tried the different valley.

It was not virgin, but we could enjoyed the deep powder.

Although it was a short time, we fully enjoyed.

We finish here as the condition became worse.

The camp site at Raichozawa looks very busy today.

Looking back at the mountain.

We realized there was no place left to ski.
It is too early, but all terrains have already been finished due to the national holidays.
Eventually we were lucky that we could not book the accommodation.

Tateyama Station.

We don't believe the bustle in the morning.

Ski day 2 at Tateyama

Awesome powder day!

2nd day for this ski season, 2 days for powder, 2 days for backcountry, telemark for 0 days
Tateyama 7:45-13:40
Gear: Teneighty GUN+SCARPA FREEDOM
Continued from Ski day 1 at Tateyama.

Beautiful sunny day.

Started at 7:45.

The terrains are not fully covered, but our happiness is promised.

The white ridge line from Mt. Okudainichi to Mt. Dainichi.
We cannot believe we walked on the ridge a month ago.

Keep going.

The first run starts here.

Perfect dry powder.

Climbing for the second run.

Up to the same level of the first run.

This run was also awesome.

We come closer to the hut for the third run.

It became a little flat light,

but still very good enough.

We enjoyed a lot.

We picked up our stuff deposited at the hut.

Walking on Kurobe dam again on the way back after changing the transportation.

We almost believed there was no chance just one day before, but we enjoyed the good start for the season with much better condition than we expected.

Ski day 1 at Tateyama

Powder day from the beginning!

1st day for this ski season, 1 day for powder, 1 day for backcountry, telemark for 0 days
Tateyama 14:15-16:15
Gear: Teneighty GUN+SCARPA FREEDOM

Skiing in Tateyama as our regular event, but the second week in November has still little snow.
We almost gave up until Thursday with checking the web camera, but the chance came on Friday.

The morning in Hakuba with some snow flakes.

It had some snow falls in Ougisawa.

I changed my tires yesterday. It was good.

Walking on the snow at Kurobe dam excites us.

Finally we arrived in Tateyama.

It is completely different from the view a month ago, when we came for mountain trekking.
I had been checking the web camera everyday and I knew the change, but seeing is everything, the gap surprised me.
It's been 5 months and half since the last skiing. The last ski was also in Tateyama.

The visibility was poor and we were waiting in Murodo Sanso (hut) for a while.

Curry rice for lunch.

The visibility became better around 2pm and then we go out.

but the view was stilll like this.

We got pretty much snow!!

The skiing was short, but it was really nice.

We were afraid of the hidden obstacles but we actually did not hit. We enjoyed the dry powder.

But it was not good visibility to do that again. We went home.

We made some practice for searching in the avalanche around the hut.
The searching is not just searching, but organizing the process.

Cheers for the powder day.

Continued to Ski day 2 at Tateyama.

Cycling-Day 18-Tama River(59.6km)

Short ride after the rain.

Day 18, 153days for cycling, total distance 11,338.8km, total climb 157,401m
Tama River 12:39-15:26
Distance today 59.6km, climb 210m, duration 2:47, avg speed 21.4km/h, burned 1,415kcal
Gear: Eurasia 520
Today's route

The weather was not good on Saturday, and it was raining in the morning on Sunday.
Now finally the rain stopped, and some sun light comes.

It is already in the afternoon, but I got a short ride.

Marukobashi bridge.

However the weather does not look stable, and I won't go further.

At Marukobashi bridge there was an event of a ferry boat, which was on service in Edo era.
I wanted to get on, but there was a long cue for it.

I gave up and kept riding to the North.

I came to Yotsuyabashi bridge,

And I found the building is still vacant. This place used to have a Seven-Eleven, and it was literally "convenient" as an aid station for riding.
Today I started returning from here.

The leaves are little colored along the Tama Cycling road.

I bought cakes on the way back.

It was short, but I rode even for 60km during the rain fall.
