12th day for this ski season, 8 days for powder, 1 day for backcountry, telemark for 2 days
Happo-one 8:00-10:20
Gear: HEAD i.Supershape Magnum

Very little snow fall in Hakuba.
It's fifth day we missed, but we gave up from the beginning.
Backcountry is an option, but the visibility seemed very poor.

I chose Happo-one, but the visibility was also poor.
Gondola lift was vacant.

Usagi.
The visibility was poor up there.

The clouds sea was beautiful.

Descending on Riesen.

The visibility became worse or better, but I did some runs on Riesen.

Coffee break at Sun-terrace Panorama.
The coffee was free last season, but it becomes 100 yen this year.

Then I did several runs with Gondola lift, but
it became busy and now the time to end.

Skyline for the last run.

Two hours skiing, not too bad.
Having better time than expected.

Lunch at Coccola J.

Chinese for dinner.

A happy new year to you.

Ski day 11 at Urahiyo

The first back country day.

11th day for this ski season, 8 days for powder, 1 day for backcountry, telemark for 2 days
Urahiyo 8:00-14:10
Gear: BanYa M1102+SCARPA FREEDOM

Very unsatisfactory snow fall.

We have been disappointed for last four days.

Long cues both of ticketing and riding on Gondola lift.

Today we attempted Urahiyo.

The first day of back country.

We headed Ura-tengu.

Fully virgin surface.

Authentic!

We enjoyed very much.

A serow.

The slope was too good to miss another run.

Heavy blizzard.

The lower part was wonderful.

Today it was very cold.

We enjoyed the good day.

Omote-hiro was just in time to go.

Annoying descend on Tsugaike.

Dinner at Kicchonchon.

Ski day 10 at Happo-one

10th day for this ski season, 7 days for powder, 0 days for backcountry, telemark for 2 days
Happo-one  8:00-9:30
Gear: HEAD i.Supershape Magnum
Happo-one  9:30-12:30
Gear: Pocket Rocket(Telemark)+GARMONT ENER-G

It was snowing pretty good last night, but I woke up and found it was not enough.

We have been disappointed with this situation in last three days.

Cortina announced the new snow fall was only 20cm, and we decided to do resort skiing.

I bought a new ski set.

It is really unusual for me to have a slalom one.
The last time I bought the piste ski was 20 years ago.

I had a good impression with this ski at a sampling session two years ago, and I found at Yahoo! auction.

Nice blue sky.

In such a good sunny day, the place we should go is Riesen.
We did several times.

Around 9:30 the Riesen quad lift had a long cue,

we finished the alpine skiing and changed to telemark.
We did runs on Panorama until noon.
It is unusual for me to do all the half day.

Lunch with ramen at Nagomi.

Dinner at Pizakaya.

Friends of my powder mate from US joined.

Ski day 9 at Hakuba Cortina

A powder day in Cortina.

9th day for this ski season, 7 days for powder, 0 days for backcountry, telemark for 1 days
Cortina  8:30-10:50
Gear: BanYa M1102+SCARPA FREEDOM

Hakuba did not have snow fall, but Otari did.

We checked the official announcement from Hakuba Cortina and headed there.

The first visit in this season in Cortina.

Hieda #2 and #3 should be all right, and what does bush area look like?

I left my goggles and had to buy at the shop.
I attached GoPro today.

Chair lift #4. Could took a good position,

which allows us to shoot on Hieda #2.

Woooooooooooow!

Floating on the surface.

In the wood the bush was still dense and the terrain appeared.

Then we did several lines around Hieda.

The dense bush discouraged me to go straightly.

Then we did "Urakkoru".

We enjoyed for 2 hours and half.

Lunch at Coccola J again.

Tako Taco for dinner.

Ski day 8 at Happo-One

Only 15 minutes run.

8th day for this ski season, 6 days for powder, 0 days for backcountry, telemark for 1 days
Happo-One 8:00-8:30
Gear: Teneighty GUN+SCARPA FREEDOM

The way to Hakuba last night encouraged me very much with some snow tire limit started.
But it was raining in Hakuba when I arrived.
I still had some hope there should be snowing up there and went to bed.

I woke up and found there was no snow fall in the village.

It was windy and the new snow depth was not deep.
My powder mate gave up going but I still tend to do.

Only few people were gathering to the gondola station.

The depth was like this.

I joined to the cue of the Alpen chair lift.

I bought a new helmet.

Usagi had some little snow fall, but I hit the bottom many times. Also the visibility was awful.

I totally lost hope and asked the powder mate to pick me up.

The running duration was only 15 minutes.

Well, I did my 'duty' anyway.

Lunch at Coccola J.

I felt some guilty to eat this with only 15 minutes run.

Hakuba Hanten for dinner.
